A month ago, it would have never occurred to me that I could extend the length of a lamp cord. But after assisting Jan in setting up my solar-electric system here at home, I realized that I could go to the hardware store and get the appropriate supplies and tools and do it myself!

The lamp is an old one, I think it was my grandmother's. The plug had exposed wires which I noticed for the first time while trying to plug the lamp into my new inverter. I realized that I needed to get a new plug and while I was at it, an additional 3-4 feet would make it easier to connect to the inverter. I stripped the wires, spliced and crimped the connectors with my new crimping tool and put on the new plug.
